I have a white birthmark on my left calf. * 2. I've been vegan for more than two years, but I'm not THAT kind of vegan ? plus, I'm more vegan-ish than vegan-oy now. I've been super strict at first, but now if something has egg in it for example and there's nothing else to eat, I'll have it. * 3. Surprisingly, I don't usually watch movies/tv shows because I have this thing in my head that tells me I'm losing time this way, better read a book and learn something - which is totally wrong and I know it, but every time I can choose between watching something and reading something, I'll choose the latter. So I'm only watching stuff with someone else, almost never alone. ? Reading news: I've finished Annihilation (meh, it was super interesting at first but I got bored and in the end I rated it 3-3.5 stars) and I started Thy House by Chad Williams (it's an indie and I was interested because the synopsis sounds super cool - superhumans that generations ago organized themselves and started ruling over the earth). ? This dress is from my buy-pretty-stuff-so-that-people-would-like-you phase from many years ago. I wore it only once. ONCE. Twice if you count yesterday when I took this pic. Do you have a go to quote/saying for when things are less than happy? ? I stole this question from @bookishbronte because I wanted to tell you guys my little thing that is "What happens already happened". This means that I was here before, fighting another battle, but feeling the same. The range of emotion one can experience isn't that broad, and once you've experienced most of the bad ones you can't be surprised anymore. Depression feels the same, heartbreak feels the same, and once you've experienced them once or twice and learned the pattern, even if you feel like crap, you know it's going to be fine. It always got better, even when you thought it won't, right? The saying doesn't mean that things will magically solve themselves. It means that you can allow yourself to not be ok, while knowing, deep within your heart, that wave-like things like waves shall pass, that everything is dust in the wind and that life is something good in something bad and something bad in something good. And it's ok to be like this. Because as long as you put a small step in front of another small step, you'll eventually get out of any dark place you're in. ? What are you currently reading? ? I'm about to start taking the new batch of pics - which is good and bad. What's one book that made you shed a tear or two? ? As always, I'll shoutout 2 accounts that comment on this pic. ? As you probably know from my stories, in the last few days I've read 2 of Khaled Hosseini's books, A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner. They were AMAZING. It's been a few months since I last felt this way about a book. It's one of the best feelings ever and it made me ask myself why I read. What's so special about reading? Why am I spending so much time following words on paper? It's so weird if you think about it, that people read books. Reading doesn't fill your belly, doesn't warm your house, doesn't do anything for you except make you... hallucinate? ? I think we are some sort of junkies, us readers, don't you think? ? The way Khaled Hosseini has written about Afghanistan has been so... full, so vivid, so true. I highly recommend you to read these 2 books, but don't forget your tissues (or, in my case, a towel). Maps in books, yay or nay? ? Grace & Fury is the book from the June @fairyloot box. It is a feminist fantasy that has fierce sisters and rebellion. No, it doesn't come with a map, but I would have loved one. Maybe in the sequel? I think having maps in books, especially in fantasy books, can't be anything but a good idea. Not that I would have checked it more than once, and that's because I flew through this book. I could have read it in a day if would have started it in the morning, it's that short and enjoyable - and its hardcover format was Fairyloot Exclusive! What book do you think deserves more recognition? ? Today I'm gonna anwer my QOTD right in the caption, ha. I always ask questions, but I'm never answering them. So. As I was taking pics today, I stumbled upon I Want Superpowers by @stevenbereznai and I opened it at page 213. It's been months and I'm not over it. Pages 213-216 are among the most beautiful pages I've read. The way everything was built up to that point, the way in which 17 different stories are told in just one paragraph... man, it's insane. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend you to read it (if you like YA/NA/fantasy/dystopia and you liked Hunger Games/The Darkest Minds/X-Men/Steelheart/Divergent etc.). Just trust me on this.
